About Me

My photo
M.Sandoval
I am a twenty-one year old, native Texan. My parents came to this country before I was born, with the use of a green card. The discussion of politics was not a common subject in my household, since my parents did not have the ability to vote. I first encountered politics during the 2000 presidential election. My Elementary school had all the fifth graders vote anonymously. The ballot only included two presidential candidates: George W. Bush and Al Gore. I voted for Bush, not because I agreed with his policies and beliefs, but because my friends voted for. Today, I notice that not much has changed since the fifth grade. Most people only recognize the names of the Republican and Democratic candidates, and vote for the most popular. Through the help of this class, I desire to build my political beliefs. I have strong opinions on a variety of issues, but lack the understanding of the political system. As a once ignorant fifth grader, I choose to no longer be part the majority that is weakening our country.
